Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca

Catalogue / Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca / Arts Santa Mònica, Edicions Polígrafa / 2016 / Catalan, Spanish and English editions / Paperback with flaps / 165 x 235 mm / 228 pages / Colour / ISBN: 978-84-34313-51-4 (english) / This book is an autobiography structured in five parts, each one of which describes the author’s life and artistic career from a different point of view and style. This is translated into different variations of the composition of the layout: a fictionalised version, like a ledger; a strict chronology of the works and projects; a glossary; technical credits of projects; and, concluding the volume, an exclusively visual chronology formed starting from photographs, illustrations and video frames. The illustrated index is a new way of describing its contents, presenting a gallery of characters who symbolise each of the periods in the author’s trajectory.

(Excerpt from the back cover.) The ‘Chinese volume’ is an object apparently devoid of content – a box, without its corresponding catalogue – intended to challenge that Asian country’s latent censorship. Through a conveniently readable QR code, the contents of the exhibition can be digitally downloaded. The ‘Japanese volume’ is structured in fragments, packets of texts, essays, graphs and images. In terms of design, the graphics of each different block start from a coded colour to create contrasts between densities and rhythmical readings.
